On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and racy, with a fine core of fruit, bright acids and lovely length and cut on the focused and nascently complex finish. This is a beautiful vintage for the Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne. (Drink between 2022-2050)

There is a very subtle hint of sulfur to the mildly exotic, cool and fresh aromas of apple, floral and discreet spice and oak scents. The delicious and overtly stony broad-shouldered flavors possess a really lovely mouth feel before terminating in a moderately austere and impressively persistent finish. I like the textured quality of the mid-palate and while I don't see the same development potential here that I see in the 2014, this notably firm effort should certainly be more than respectable if allowed sufficient bottle age.

The palate is crisp and taut with a keen line of acidity, the 2014 is quite saline-like, with hints of ginger and spice furnishing the finish. This is a very fine Corton-Charlemagne that sits comfortably at the upper end of my banded score from last year. It may improve even further with continued bottle age. - Neal Martin

Tight aromas of mirabelle, crushed herbs, licorice and powdered stone are complicated by a distinctive oyster shell quality and a hint of orange zest. Dense and creamy but juicy too, showing good cut and a light touch. Perhaps not squeaky-clean but the exotic orange zest and mineral flavors carry well on the gripping, slightly bitter-edged finish. This youthfully austere wine needs at least five years of cellaring.
