Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots has a sophisticated, well-defined, expressive bouquet with red plum, redcurrant and raspberry fruit, nicely integrated oak that allows sous-bois aromas to percolate through with aeration. Lovely focus here! The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well judged acidity, focused and quite intense with admirable tension on the finish. It requires 4-5 years in bottle but it will reward those with patience. Tasted September 2016. - Neal Martin

Gentle but not invisible wood serves as a backdrop for spicy and distinctly earthy red and dark currant aromas that possess an unusual yet interesting top note of dried tangerine peel. As is the case with many of the Grivot 2013s the mouth feel of the middle weight plus flavors is relatively fine thanks to the refined if firm tannins that shape and support the suave, powerful and mouth coating finale. This moderately firm and ever-so-mildly rustic effort will also need all of 12 years or so to reveal its full potential. Worth considering. 2025+

This is aromatic, exuding floral, wild berry, spice and herbal notes. Flirts with elegance, boasting grip and racy acidity, ending with a chewy texture. Best from 2018 through 2030. 50 cases imported. –BS

Juicy but tightly wound, hinting at a racy high note of blood orange. All of these wines are showing firm tannic spine today but hiding their fat.

The bouquet on this is enticing - ripe cranberries, mushroom and damp earth intermix with crushed stone, dried citrus peel and dried sage. On the palate it is fresh and juicy with bright cranberry and red currant flavors. The medium body carries silky tannins and lively acidity. Slight peppery, long finish. Drink 2018-2025+
