Even with extended aeration this remained quite firmly reduced and while the occasional whiff of oak and citrus sometimes reveal themselves, I was genuinely surprised by how pungent the reduction was as that's unusual for Ramonet; to be clear, some reduction is occasionally present in their wines but this isn't subtle. Otherwise there is solid density and punch to the attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess very fine complexity before terminating in a balanced, restrained and beautifully long finish. This may very well eventually clean up but I am concerned that as strong as the reduction is that it may be permanent. As such my score awards the benefit of the doubt in this regard.

Smoky, toasty notes underline the peach and lemon fruit flavors in this broad white, which is a little shy on the finish, where spice accents reign. This should blossom with a little aging. Best from 2017 through 2024. 50 cases imported. –BS
