This is dense and tannic with beautiful bright fruit such as dried strawberry and mineral. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. Very muscular. Try it in 2020.

(BH93-95 points) Here the restrained yet markedly spicy and beautifully layered nose is composed of liqueur-like red and black cherry, earth and lavender aromas. This is sleeker and more refined than the Grands Ech though the medium plus weight flavors possess no better mid-palate concentration or power. There is plenty of the hallmark minerality and I very much like the texture on the balanced, persistent and harmonious finale. A wine of class and grace that should also age for years.

Reticent aromas of small wild red berries and truffley underbrush. Rich and fine-grained, with lovely lift to the utterly seamless, deep flavors of berries and earth. Not obviously superior to the Griotte, and not at all a powerhouse, but this tightly wound wine is still youthfully tight and will need years to unfold.

Lush and fleshy for the vintage, with plenty of juicy cherry and raspberry fruit. Firmly built, this develops on the palate, leading to a long, fruit-, mineral- and spice-tinged aftertaste. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has a slightly leaner bouquet than its peers: a pleasant leafiness filtering through the red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a piquant entry. This is tarty, higher in acidity than other Clos de Bèze, with Morello cherry, crushed strawberry and minerals towards the finish. It feels a little pointed at the moment but it has the substance to age. Tasted September 2016. - Neal Martin
