Philippe Drouhin dedicates .62 acres of vines to this village Chambolle, parcels he has farmed organically since 1990. And it may well be his farming that sets this wine apart, or his sister Véronique’s gentle winemaking, or their care in selecting oak for the barrels in which this aged. There is, in fact, a firm oak presence in the wine, but it only adds to the spicy length of the flavor, lifting the gracious, silken Chambolle essence into sexy and delicious territory. Drouhin wines from Chambolle consistently stand out in our blind tastings, whether the village wine or the premier cru blend.
