The medium-bodied palate offers tobacco and red berry flavors ensconced in ultrafine, leathery tannins. There's oak influence, but it is well integrated with the fruit. Drink now–2028. collapse

It manages to be ripe and rich while still being svelte and medium-bodied. Baking spices and cedar appear on the nose, but this isn't an oaky wine—those elements are just seasoning for the red and black currant fruit. A creamy, slightly lactic note builds the mid-palate without adding excess weight, while hints of sage and bay leaf linger on the silky finish.-JC collapse

Leeuwin Estate

Leeuwin Estate is a family-owned Australian winery and one of the five founding wineries in the now famous Margaret River district of Western Australia. Formerly a cattle ranch, the property was converted to vineyards by Denis and Tricia Horgan upon the advice of legendary Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi when he visited Australia and saw the estate’s potential as being ideal for the production of premium wines.

The estate enjoyed its first commercial vintage in 1979 and was quickly thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1980 "Art Series" Chardonnay. Leeuwin now exports to 30 markets. The estate releases wines under the Art Series, Prelude Vineyards and Siblings labels.

Celebrating the combination of fine wine, food, art and music, Leeuwin features an award winning restaurant, cellar door and art gallery. The estate is renowned for staging spectacular events and welcoming visitors from around the world.
