Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere of Pessac-Leognan is one of only six Bordeaux chateaux that have both red and white classified wines.

Originally Domaine de Lagraviere, the estate was purchased at the end of the 18th century by the family of Count Hippolyte de Maures de Malartic, an admiral who served in the French Navy. The estate was then bought in 1850 by Madame Arnaud Ricard, who added the name Malartic to that of Lagraviere as a tribute to the former owners.

Located on the oldest wine-producing terroir in Bordeaux, Chateau Malartic-Lagraviere’s vineyard is on a high terrace of 8-meter-deep gravelly soil over limestone and clay. It covers 53 hectares planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

in 1998, the winery became one of the first to adopt a fully gravity-driven grape transport system. After manual harvests and double sorting on vibrating tables, grapes are transported to the vats and then to the barrels only by gravity. The vat room is also highly innovative. Its octagonal layout houses 20 stainless steel vats and 10 wooden ones, all conical and temperature-controlled. Being small, each one can accommodate the fruit from specific plots for individual vinification.

After blending, the wine is left to age in a 1200-barrel capacity air-conditioned cellar with controlled humidity levels. 25 to 35% of the barrels are replaced every year with new ones from the best coopers.

The 2013 Malartic-Lagraviere Blanc is a truly exceptional white wine hailing from the esteemed Bordeaux region of France. This wine, crafted by the renowned Malartic-Lagraviere winery, showcases the elegance and complexity that Bordeaux Blanc is known for.

In the glass, the wine gleams with a radiant golden hue, inviting you to indulge in its sensory delights. The nose is immediately entrancing, offering a beguiling bouquet of fresh white fruits and delicate floral notes. Crisp apples, succulent pears, and a subtle hint of spice from the wood aging dance harmoniously, creating a symphony of aromas that captivate the senses.

On the palate, this wine truly shines. It is concentrated and dense, displaying superb acidity that lends vibrancy and freshness to every sip. The flavors of green papaya and lime take center stage, with a delightful touch of ripe mango adding a tropical twist. The fruit is beautifully integrated with the subtle nuances of oak, creating a seamlessly balanced and complex palate.

With a full body and a laser-guided precision, this wine showcases the winemaker's expertise in crafting a masterpiece. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a lasting impression that beckons you to take another sip.

The 2013 Malartic-Lagraviere Blanc is made predominantly from 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon, a classic blend that adds depth and richness to the wine. This is a wine that is built to age gracefully, and if you have the patience, it is recommended to wait until 2020 before indulging in its splendor.

The Bonnet family, owners of Malartic-Lagraviere, have truly excelled in producing this outstanding white Bordeaux. To further enhance their winemaking prowess, they have enlisted the expertise of renowned consultant Michel Rolland, ensuring that every bottle of Malartic-Lagraviere Blanc is a true masterpiece.

This wine has received high praise from esteemed wine critics, with Wine Enthusiast awarding it a stellar score of 94 points. James Suckling echoes this sentiment, bestowing a remarkable score of 95 points and describing it as a "great dry white Bordeaux."
