(BH92-94 points) A markedly spicy nose features notes of earth, plum, cassis and soft floral nuances. There is excellent concentration to the powerful and intense middle weight flavors that also possess a velvety mouth feel before culminating in a balanced, dusty and hugely long finish. The supporting tannins are well-integrated and while this should amply reward longer-term cellaring it should also be approachable after only 7 to 8 years. In a word, terrific.

(WA88-90 points) The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Boudots had finished its malolactic in July and includes 20% whole bunch this year. It has a stony, blackberry leaf and bilberry-scented bouquet that is focused and linear. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry, a gentle grip with a strict, very linear, almost foursquare finish deriving from the whole-bunch addition. - Neal Martin
