The eagerly anticipated first release from Maison Louis Jadot's Oregon project does not disappoint. Long time Jadot winemaker Jacques Lardière has put all his heart and expertise into this wine, sourced from a much-loved vineyard recently acquired by the firm. Concentrated raspberry purée comes through in both aroma and flavor, with laser focus. It's a magical combination of finesse, silkiness and strident youth, with 20 years of aging potential. Light and focused, showing distinctive subtlety. A layer of crinkly tannins underlies a pulsing core of mineral-accented cherry and red berry flavors, hinting at cinnamon as the finish lingers gently. Best from 2017 through 2023. 2,000 cases made. –HS

The 2013 Résonance Vineyard Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully at this age, with a lovely nose of mushroom, cinnamon, potpourri, licorice and earth with loads of floral nuances and a core of black and red berries. Medium-bodied and silky, it's just about even with its fruit and tertiary flavors, finely grained, fresh and finishing long. Beautiful. Winemaker Guillaume Large says there was a big storm just before harvest in 2013. "Jacques Lardière saw the forecast coming, and having seen vintages like that in Burgundy, he knew we shouldn't wait. We picked two hours before the storm hit and were able to get all the fruit in before the rain. It didn't stop raining again for 10 days." - Erin Brooks
