94+ A much more masculine and mineral expression of Pinot Noir, the 2013 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard comes from a site located to the south of Rosella's and just beside Soberanes. This is a slightly warmer terroir than Rosella's and the soils here are all sandy loam. Fermented with 15% whole clusters and aged in 65% new oak, it gives up lots of darker berry fruits, sous bois, crushed rock and peppery herbs characteristics to go with a full-bodied, rich, concentrated style on the palate. It took the most time to open up and has ample tannin, so another year in bottle is recommended here. - Jeb Dunnuck
