(BH93-96 points) An even more elegant nose of spicy and floral red and black pinot fruit is nuanced by subtle traces of sandalwood, Asian-style tea, soy and anise. There is fine concentration to the relatively powerful sappy and mouth coating flavors that are shaped by wonderfully fine-grained tannins on the hugely long, balanced and moderately austere finale. This terrific effort is also quite silky yet it should have zero difficulty rewarding at least 15 to 20 years of cellar time. 2029+

Slightly high-toned, chocolatey-ripe aromas of black raspberry, menthol and minerals. Fat and sweet but youthfully closed; doesn't offer quite the lift of the Reignots today but this is a remarkably full, large-scaled wine for the year. A bit darker and earthier in its fruit character. Sweetness builds with air.
