The 2014 Badette is a wine that shot way above my expectation vis-à-vis its rather perplexing showing from barrel when it felt burdened by the oak regime. Now in bottle, it has an attractive bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and cedar aromas that are very well defined, very composed and nuanced. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, very supple tannins, crisp acidity and a sensual, very satisfying finish that offers plenty of white pepper-tinged black fruit and a long, spicy aftertaste. I just love the brightness to this wine, a vivid Saint Emilion to brighten your senses. - Neal Martin
