The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru has a very classic bouquet, leaning more towards black fruit here, touches of slate and flint in the background, blackberry and raspberry preserve gaining intensity in the glass. There is less of the undergrowth scents that I noticed out of barrel. The palate is smooth and silky, perhaps a little more sorbet-like in character à la 2015, gently building to quite a sweet, candied orange peel and Asian spice tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is showing great promise. Tasted November 2016. - Neal Martin
