The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard is bright, focused and wonderfully nuanced in the glass. Medium in body, with silky tannins, the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring. It is fascinating to see how well the 2014 has come together over the last year. The flavors are vibrant – as they always have been – but the mid-palate has filled out very nicely. 95+ The single-vineyards from their 58 acres of vines, includes the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford. Production is only about 300 cases. It is a slightly more complex wine than the Onda, but not more concentrated, as it has the same opulence and voluptuous texture, an endearing overall personality with abundant juicy blackcurrants and licorice and loamy soil undertones in a full-bodied, silky style. This wine spent 20 months in 90% new French oak prior to being bottled unfiltered.
