The 2014 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru from Dominique Lafon ranks as one of the finest in recent years. It is blessed with an entrancing bouquet with a very subtle Coche-like reduction that deftly allows the terroir to shine through. This could only be Les Perrières. The palate is fine-boned with lip-smacking salinity and stunning precision, and flinty on the aftertaste. Just a magnificent Meursault with 20 years ahead. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, Lafon's 2014 Meursault 1er Cru les Perrières has a clean and fresh bouquet with scents of dried honey, wet granite and apple blossom, just a hint of pralines tucked behind. This is very complex, very intellectual. The palate is fresh and crisp with vibrant acidity, quite saline in the mouth with an intense, marine-influenced finish, hints of oyster shell lingering on the aftertaste. Wow—this is a Meursault that delivers the goods. - Neal Martin

(BH93-95 points) A discreet application of wood sets off the intensely floral-suffused nose that presently displays little more than notes of mineral reduction. Otherwise the highly energetic medium weight flavors are almost painfully intense while delivering huge length on the balanced finish that is like rolling rocks around in your mouth. Like several of the wines in the range this is going to require at least a few years of bottle age to flesh out and more fully harmonize but it should be more than worth the wait.
