(BH93-95 points) Here there is enough reduction present to dominate the fruit but not so much that the natural spiciness is hidden. It is also present on the sleek, rich and beautifully detailed medium-bodied flavors that also coat the palate with an abundance of dry extract that simultaneously serves to buffer the very firm tannic spine that shapes the tight, compact and focused finale that demonstrates stunningly good length. Once again this is clearly going to need an extended stay in a cool cellar but it should be well worth the wait.

(WA93-95 points) The 2014 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a deep, broody bouquet with blackberry and raspberry confit aromas, a touch of fig in the background lending a touch of exoticism but nothing extreme. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannin, a little grainy in texture with a deep well of blackberry and raspberry fruit infused with slightly savory, meaty notes towards the finish that gently fans out. Good material/substance here -- it deserves 3-5 years in bottle. - Neal Martin

Suave and fleshy, delivering cherry, plum, mineral, spice and smoke aromas and flavors. So dense and muscular, this sucks the moisture from your palate, only to return on the long, chalky aftertaste. Best from 2020 through 2036. — B.S.
