The 2014 Morgon Côte de Py James underwent a 14-day maceration and is matured in exactly the same barrel formation as the Javernières, even bottled the same day. The only difference is that these vines are located towards... The 2014 Morgon Côte de Py James underwent a 14-day maceration and is matured in exactly the same barrel formation as the Javernières, even bottled the same day. The only difference is that these vines are located towards the top of the hill. It has a luscious black cherry, cassis and fig-scented bouquet that is outgoing and vivacious. The palate displays very fine substance, more weight in the mouth than the Javernières with layers of pure, salted licorice-tinged dark cherry fruit fanning out on the finish. This is a superb wine from Jean-Marc. - Neal Martin

Vibrant ruby core moving to a pink rim. This is classic Cote du Py on the nose, an impressive presence of both ripe and under ripe red fruits, that come off in a very soft, perfumed manner. This is classic Cote du Py on the nose, an impressive presence of both ripe and under ripe red fruits, that come off in a very soft, perfumed manner. Black cherries, raspberry, cassis, flowers, cardamom and tea leaf. There is an elegant balance achieved on the palate between decent weight and high acid, allowing this delicious wine to operate as an excellent accompaniment to an enormous number of dishes, fish included, or to be enjoyed on its own. This is lovely to drink now but will likely offer up even more complexity over the next 6-8 years.
