Musky, soil-driven scents of red raspberry, strawberry, minerals and underbrush. Plump and velvety for the vintage, offering enticing sweetness to the flavors of redcurrant, raspberry and spices. This round, harmonious wine finishes with firm but sweet tannins, a hint of graphite minerality, good subtle length and no hard edges.

(90+) The Drouhin family’s Chambolle AC all hails from villages parcels down near the RN-74, with the exception of one plot of vines up closer to the premier crus in aux Exchanges. The 2014 was still in barrel and really showing lovely potential at the time of my tasting, delivering a pure and sappy nose of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, woodsmoke, gamebird, a touch of mustard seed and a lovely signature of soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very focused, with lovely mid-palate depth, suave tannins and a long, vibrant and still quite primary finish. High class villages!

An exceptionally fresh and cool nose is comprised of ripe red current and dark cherry aromas that are freely laced with floral and spice hints. There is a fleshy, even generous and succulent mouth feel to the medium weight flavors that coat the palate on the mineral and saline-inflected finale that deliver first-rate length. This moderately firm effort is a terrific Chambolle villages and worth investigating. Recommended.
