The 2014 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has a very perfumed bouquet, perhaps the most floral in recent years; hints of graphite and loam suffuse the red fruit. Mercurial in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, sapid and tensile, with lovely cohesion and a silky smooth finish that belies the structure underneath. This oozes class, although it needs another couple of years in bottle. Wonderful. Tasted at the Clos de Bèze vertical at La Cobotte.
