Chocolate, gravel and a host of dark-toned fruits nearly bury the tannins. The 2014 saw five days of cold soaking followed by 26 days on the skins. Malolactic fermentation was done in barrel. The blend is 94 % Merlot and 6 % Cabernet Franc. Proprietor Jérémy Chasseuil and his team have done a terrific job with the 2014.

Made from 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, the 2014 Château Feytit-Clinet isn’t going to make anyone forget the 2015, but it’s certainly a brilliant wine that excels in the vintage. Offering a perfumed, complex, traditional style in its ripe red currants, black cherries, smoked herbs, sous bois, and floral nuances, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a light, graceful, incredibly seamless texture, fine tannin, and a great finish. This beauty is all about finesse and elegance, is perfectly balanced, and while already beautiful, should keep for 15+ years.

Quite a discrete, old-fashioned wine for Pomerol with a very nice balance and some real depth. For traditionalists this a good choice at the lower end of the price range for this appellation. Beauty.

The 2014 Feytit Clinet has a crisp bouquet with violet-tinged black fruit, understated and very precise (a leitmotif of Jeremy Chasseuil's wine). The palate is clean and precise, very well defined with a mineral-infused finish that lingers long in the mouth. There is nothing ostentatious about this wine, rather it is all about the composure, refinement and precision. It can be summed up in two words: Bon vin! - Neal Martin

Dark ruby at the core, with a bright crimson rim. This is surprisingly open for business at such a young age, revealing a classic Pomerol nose of black cherry, blackberry, cedar, forest floor, graphite and violets. The wine is fairly full-bodied, but not heavy or over-extracted. There’s ample ripe fruit present on the palate, yet this retains a decidedly elegant profile with wonderful streak of balancing acidity. The tannins are very refined and will continue to soften with age. Hold until 2020 and drink through 2030.
