(90+) The Drouhin family’s Chambolle AC all hails from villages parcels down near the RN-74, with the exception of one plot of vines up closer to the premier crus in aux Exchanges. The 2014 was still in barrel and really showing lovely potential at the time of my tasting, delivering a pure and sappy nose of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, woodsmoke, gamebird, a touch of mustard seed and a lovely signature of soil tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very focused, with lovely mid-palate depth, suave tannins and a long, vibrant and still quite primary finish. High class villages!
