Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, December 2020

The Castello Banfi 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio all'Oro is the top-shelf wine and shows careful integration and well-managed intensity. It opens to tart berry fruit, cassis and sour cherry. As it reveals...

Wine Enthusiast, May 2021

Forest-floor, new leather and pipe-tobacco aromas mingle with notes of violet and coffee bean. Elegantly structured, the taut, savory palate doles out ripe black cherry, blackberry jam, licorice and a hint of espresso...

jamessuckling.com, November 2020

Mixed-cherry, floral and crushed-stone aromas. Full-bodied with firm tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and tight with a line of fine tannins that holds this all together. Iodine and mushroom notes come through. Try after...

jebdunnuck.com, March 2021

The 2015 Poggio all’Oro Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is only produced in exceptional vintages and was aged for 30 months in 70% large French oak casks and 30% in French oak barriques. It reveals smoky aromatics of...

Wine Spectator, June 2021

Balsamic notes of pine, tobacco and Scotch broom gain the upper hand over the strawberry and cherry fruit in this red, at present. Tightly wound, an intense core of fruit persists through the mostly savory finish. Best...

Vinous, November 2020

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio all'Oro Riserva takes some time to open up in the glass, as a cloud of white smoke and subtle spice slowly dissipates. A few minutes of coaxing reveals dried black cherries, sweet...

Decanter, November 2021

With the switch to predominantly large casks, ageing in wood was increased from 30 months to 42 for 2015. This vintage also saw a prolonged long maceration of 30 days given the high phenolic ripeness. Still in the throes...

Castello Banfi, a family-owned wine estate in the Tuscany region, was founded in 1978 by Italian-American brothers, John and Harry Mariani.

The Banfi territory encompasses 7,100 acres of land in Montalcino, of which about one third is planted with Sangiovese, Moscadello and other notable varieties on extremely rich and uniform soils of clay and calcium.

Banfi Piedmont was founded with the acquisition of the historic Bruzzone winery. The holdings there extend between the towns of Novi Ligure and Acqui over an area of 124 acres of which 114 are under vine.

The Banfi vineyards in Bolgheri, located south of Castagneto Carducci, give life to the prized Aska, bringing together intensity, roundness and structure.

Banfi also manages 100 acres of specialized vineyard in Chianti which bequeaths wines that bring together structure, elegance, and typical Tuscan personality.
