I am breathless with the dark-berry, lavender and burnt-orange aromas. Some salt. Just so formidable and deep. Stunningly sexy on the palate with a density and power, yet it leaves things so clean and bright. You want to...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2018

This is extraordinary. The wine is so silky, it is effortless to taste and drink. The fruits paint your palate. But the wine is light on its feet. Sensuous, sexy and racy, the fruit offers a melange of red and black...

Deep ruby in colour, so much texture to this wine you really can sink into it. A fist of blueberry, raspberry and cassis fruit, with juice running right through. A sense of energy and irresistable momentum that pushes...

One of the gems in Margaux is unquestionably the 2015 Palmer. Possessing more elegance and purity, as well as concentration, than the Alter Ego, it offers up a gorgeous bouquet of crème de cassis, caramelized cherries...

Generous, rich and powerful, this is a sumptuous wine. With just a slight preponderance of Cabernet Sauvignon, it has structure as well as clean, clear black-currant flavors. Produced from biodynamically grown grapes, it...

Decanter, November 2020

Six months from the last time I tasted this wine and it is a little more closed than it was, as the 2015s begin to retreat inwards for a few years. Still no mistaking the quality of this vintage, and it remains a...

Chateau Palmer, classified a Third Growth Bordeaux, is in the commune of Cantenac, the heart of the Margaux appellation.

The Palmer vineyards, originally part of the larger estate of Chateau d’Issan, cover 66 hectares of gravelly soil on terraces overlooking the Garonne River. There are equal amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (47% each). The remainder is Petit Verdot. From 2014 forward, the entire property has been farmed biodynamically.

Chateau Palmer is named after Major General Charles Palmer of the British Army, who bought the estate in 1814 from Marie de Gascq. A passionate man, he invested a great deal of time, energy and money to develop his property, purchasing land and buildings in the communes of Cantenac, Issan, and Margaux, and by the 1830s, his property covered 163 hectares, 82 hectares of which were vineyards. “Palmer's Claret” quickly gained popularity in London clubs and even found favor in the eyes of the future King George IV.

Charles sold the estate in 1843. The current owners, the Sichel and Mahler-Besse families, have been in place since 1938. Their focus throughout has been on authenticity, quality and consistency.

Finesse and elegance, typical of the great wines of Margaux, are the trademarks of Chateau Palmer. The unusual combination of grape varieties for a classified Left Bank wine–as much Merlot as Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Petit Verdot–gives Chateau Palmer a bouquet of extraordinary complexity, with fruit, flowers, and spice wrapped in a fleshy and generous structure. The subtle balance between aromatic richness and powerful, yet always restrained, tannins makes Palmer charming even when very young.

The grapes are fermented separately by variety and plot in 54 conical, stainless steel vats. The wine then ages 18 to 21 months in French oak barrels, less than 50% new.

Introducing the 2015 Chateau Palmer, a Bordeaux Blend from the iconic Chateau Palmer in the Margaux region of Bordeaux, France. This wine is a true masterpiece, exuding elegance, purity, and an unparalleled depth of flavors.

In the glass, the 2015 Chateau Palmer displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color, enticing the senses with its vibrant hue. The nose is an aromatic symphony, opening with vibrant red currants, black cherries, and wild blueberries. These fruity notes are accompanied by earthy and mineral characteristics, creating a harmonious blend of aromas. As the wine evolves, delicate floral notes of violets and dried roses intermingle with captivating layers of baker's chocolate and fragrant earth.

On the palate, this wine is medium to full-bodied, generously showcasing its ripe and luscious fruit. The tannins are firm yet remarkably fine-grained, creating a velvety texture that is simply mind-blowing. The multifaceted palate dances with freshness, while the finish takes a beguilingly earthy turn, leaving subtle hints of minerals. The 2015 Chateau Palmer is the epitome of class, elegance, and sophistication, evoking a regal aura through its poise and audaciousness.
