The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a competent, well-defined bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry and earthy aromas. The medium-bodied palate is edgy in style, presenting fine tannin, well-judged acidity and a splash of balsamic that lends tension toward the sustained finish. This seems to improve in the glass, and that bodes well for the future. -- Neal Martin

I appreciate the delineation and focus here. The palate is smooth and silky on the entry with a keen line of acidity, bright and quite vivid in style with animated red cherry, crushed strawberry and spice box notes on the finish that gently fans out. This is a well-crafted Echézeaux from Albert Bichot. - Neal Martin

This too is quite ripe with its liqueur-like aromas of black raspberry, spice and floral hints that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The velvety, supple and quite round flavors coat the palate with dry extract that also pushes the moderately firm tannins to the background on the slightly warm finish where the wood resurfaces. This is unusually powerful compared to what is typical for Echézeaux though it is not particularly complex but the underlying material is here such that it is reasonable that more will develop and my rating assumes that it will.
