While it's not the greatest vintage of this wine, it's still terrific, marrying plummy, black cherry fruit with a dusting of baking spices and Provençal herbs, finishing long and plush. - Joe Czerwinski

The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Reine des Bois from Domaine de La Mordoree is solid in the vintage. A blend of 75% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre and the rest Syrah, Vaccarèse and Counoise, aged in 25% new barrels, it offers the classic darker styled fruits of this cuvée, with lots of blackberry, currants, toasted spice, graphite, and licorice all emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a supple, elegant style, it's already drinking beautifully, yet should evolve gracefully. This is one of the more elegant, mid-weight examples of this cuvée produced yet it will still keep for 10-12 years.
