DC 92
Decanter, November 2017
This reveals a complex bouquet of poached pear, citrus zest, juicy apple and white flowers, leading into a glossy palate underpinned by lovely minerality and acidity. Delicious stuff. Drinking Window 2016 - 2024
WS 92
Wine Spectator, July 2017
This is creamy and vibrant, evoking lime blossom, white peach and honeysuckle flavors. Intense, with fine balance and a tangy aftertaste. Drink now through 2023. 1,800 cases made. –BS

(91+) (these vines range in age from 4 to 80 years old: Lafon has seven hectares and selects the best three or four for this cuvée, with the idea of making a fresh, dry wine; aged mostly in demi-muids): Bright yellow. Elegant nose combines aromas of vineyard peach, flowers, minerals and curry (the latter a "marker" of the vintage in the Mâconnais, according to Caroline Gon), lifted by spicy oak notes of clove and nutmeg. Very rich and concentrated, with yellow peach and mineral flavors and a very firm, long finish. The crop level in 2015 was about 30 hectoliters per hectare, which Gon told me is a lot better than the 10 to 15 they got when the team started working these vineyards in 2009. -Stephen Tanzer

The reduction displayed by some of the prior wines is also present here and in this case it's prominent enough to warrant a thorough aeration. On the plus side there is very good precision and underlying tension to the delicious and energetic middle weight flavors that are shaped by citrus-tinged acidity on the very dry and moderately firm finale. While this should certainly reward a few years of bottle age it is sufficiently forward that it could be enjoyed young.
