(88-91) This was somewhat flat in that the nose lacks a bit of freshness to the earth and sauvage-inflected red and dark pinot fruit aromas. Otherwise there is excellent richness to the velvety and caressing medium weight flavors that culminate in a firm and mildly austere finish. This possesses good acidity and thus my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that the nose will recover its freshness.

(89 - 91) The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from an exchange of grapes with another grower and is sourced from two parcels. It offers plush red cherry, redcurrant and boysenberry jam scents on the nose that I feel could benefit from a little more complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, quite fine tannin and a brisk line of acidity. This feels linear in the mouth, quite strict for a 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin, although it will flesh out by the time this is in bottle.- NM

Spicy red berries and a coffee nuance on the nose. Supple, creamy and easygoing, showing more red than black fruits; from 100% destemmed fruit and distinctly round in style. Finishes with nicely ripe tannins, a touch of minerality and very good length. This should give early pleasure.- ST
