(92+) The La Riotte this year is really characterized by refined elegance and is one of my favorite premier crus in the cellar in 2015. The bouquet delivers a lovely blend of black cherries, sweet dark berries, woodsmoke, a touch of venison, a complex base of dark soil tones, gentle notes of mustard seed and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with a soil-driven personality, lovely focus and grip and a long, fine-grained and elegant finish. Fine juice. (Drink between 2023-2060)

(89-92) This too is aromatically quite enticing with its exuberantly fresh nose that blends notes of earth, spice and floral elements with those of various red berry fruit scents. The rich, round and beguilingly delicious middle weight flavors possess a highly seductive mouth feel thanks to the abundant dry extract that serves to buffer the moderately firm tannins on the lingering finish that is presently not quite as complex as that of the Combe d'Orveau.

Expressive aromas and flavors of cherry, brown spices and smoky underbrush. Fat, silky and moderately sweet; broader and more powerful in the early going than the Combe d'Orveau but without that wine's finesse. Delivers impressive volume and saline minerality, finishing with big, dusty tannins and classic dryness.
