Offering up lots of smoked earth, ground pepper, exotic flowers, and assorted dark fruits, it opens up beautifully with time in the glass, has a layered, ultra-pure style, and a great, great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. Bravo!

The palate is very structural at first with stand-up tannins, but they open the doors to lush floral and fruit flavors, from lilac and lavender to elegant plums and berries. MATT KETTMANN

Full-bodied, rich and expansive, it cuts a broad swath across the palate, revealing a deep core of sun-kissed, concentrated fruit and a gently chewy finish. It's one of the more fruit-forward wines in the Epoch portfolio.- WK
