91+ As readers will recall, the domaine’s Clos Prieur is a blend of the two sections of this vineyard, with thirty percent of the cuvée made from the premier cru sector of Clos Prieur Haut and the balance old vines in the villages portion of Clos Prieur Bas. The vines in the lower section are now eighty-five years of age. This is stellar as well in 2015, with a bit more of a reserved personality than the en Jouise, as it offers up a deep and classy bouquet of dark berries, black cherries, raw cocoa, incipient notes of grilled meat, dark soil tones, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with excellent focus and grip, tangy acids and a very long, ripely tannic and still fairly primary finish. This will need a bit more time, but will excellent.
