jebdunnuck.com, November 2017

The 2015 Haut Brion is a perfect wine that couldn’t be any better and is certainly at the top of this great vintage. A blend of 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance Cabernet Franc, this full-bodied...

If the color does not let you know you're in for a treat, the nose is going to knock you over with its floral, smoke, cigar wrapper, black cherry and cassis notes. The purity of fruit here is off the charts. The wine is...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2018

A blend of 50% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Haut-Brion is reticent to begin, languidly revealing crushed black cherries, ripe black plums and wild...

The Wine Independent, November 2022

The 2015 Haut-Brion is composed of 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet in color, it rolls out of the glass with a youthful, still primary core of juicy black plums, crushed...

Stately, muscular, nuanced, waves of toasted cumin, black tea, pomegranate, sandalwood, cloves, smoke, tar, tobacco, intense and concentrated, clearly decades ahead. Rich and powerful, leans into the fingerprint of the...

This is all about seduction and beauty with tobacco, berries, tea and wet earth. Full-bodied, round and sexy. Love the polished and beautiful tannins. Racy and refined. Try in 2023.

Wine Spectator, March 2018

A brick house of a wine, loaded with roasted fig, warmed currant compote and plum reduction flavors that are as broad as they are deep, carried by warm tar, ganache and smoldering bay leaf and charcoal notes. A swath of...

Decanter, February 2025

Looser-knit and slightly more open than La Mission Haut-Brion. Feels softer. Dark fruit, tobacco, smoke and a touch of volatility. On the palate there is lovely purity and incredible balance. Very fine tannin and...

Vinous, June 2025

The 2015 Haut-Brion is much less flamboyant and expressive on the nose compared to La Mission, but it is very nuanced with those signature game and roasted chestnut scents percolating through the black fruit. The palate...

Château Haut-Brion 2015 is the First Growth red from Pessac-Léognan in Graves, notably the only 1855 First Growth located outside the Médoc. The estate’s long history matters here: it is often cited as Bordeaux’s oldest continuously working winery, with documented production going back to 1521, and a reputation for shaping classic Bordeaux élevage through longer barrel aging and careful cellar practices. The château has been owned by the Clarence Dillon family since 1935, with Prince Robert of Luxembourg overseeing operations since 2008.

The 2015 is a classic Haut-Brion blend led by Merlot: 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Cabernet Franc, aged in a high proportion of new wood (reported at 78% new oak). Stylistically, reviewers emphasize perfume, control, and structure more than sheer mass. One merchant description calls it “medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins,” with a “gorgeous bouquet” built around “lush but controlled red berry fruit laced with chestnut and hints of game,” finishing “lightly spiced with a dash of black pepper and cumin.”

This bottling stands out for the strength and consistency of its professional reception. Two critics went all the way to perfection: Jeb Dunnuck rated it 100 points and called it “a perfect wine that couldn’t be any better,” while Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate also awarded 100 points, highlighting an “impeccably poised” and “exquisitely perfumed” profile. Those are the headline reviews, reinforced by a deep bench of near-top scores: Vinous rated it 98 and described it as “magnificent,” noting it will need “a good decade-plus to even start becoming approachable.” Wine Spectator’s 98-point take frames it as “a brick house of a wine,” recommending a drinking window of 2025–2045. Decanter, at 97 points, went further with the vintage context, calling it “The Graves wine of the vintage.”

Taken together, the 2015 Haut-Brion reads as a benchmark modern classic: highly aromatic, firmly structured, and built for long aging, with top-tier critical endorsement.
