This is a voluptuous, slightly warming wine with bold alcohol and luscious flavors of mulberry and black cherry. Delicate notes of violet, lavender and garrigue lend a perfumed, airy lift. It's a rich but elegant wine with a firm, tannic finish that should meld from 2020 and improve through 2030.

Dark and winey, featuring ripe waves of warm, steeped fig, boysenberry and plum fruit rolling through, inlaid with roasted apple wood, tobacco and dark earth details. Displays heft through the finish, with a slightly toothy plum skin edge, but the density and drive is there. Best from 2020 through 2035. 600 cases made.–JM

The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Reine des Bois from Domaine de La Mordoree is solid in the vintage. A blend of 75% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre and the rest Syrah, Vaccarèse and Counoise, aged in 25% new barrels, it offers the classic darker styled fruits of this cuvée, with lots of blackberry, currants, toasted spice, graphite, and licorice all emerging from the glass. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a supple, elegant style, it's already drinking beautifully, yet should evolve gracefully. This is one of the more elegant, mid-weight examples of this cuvée produced yet it will still keep for 10-12 years.

Richly concentrated and velvety in texture, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape La Reine des Bois is a full-bodied blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Syrah and 5% split between Vaccarese and Counoise. While it's not the greatest vintage of this wine, it's still terrific, marrying plummy, black cherry fruit with a dusting of baking spices and Provençal herbs, finishing long and plush. - Joe Czerwinski
