Classic Pomerol character of black olives, wet earth, violets and dark fruit. Full-bodied, tight and silky-textured with fabulous texture. Stones and dark berries. So serious and real. The depth is like looking down a well. Give it three to four years to integrated but already beautiful. Try in 2023 and onwards.

A Pomerol with reticence and pared back flesh and firm tannins, and it's a style that delivers in the heat of 2015, giving balance and texture to the ripe fruits, over-layered with black truffle and smoked earth. Good stuff, enjoyable. 40% new oak for ageing.

(92 - 94 points) The 2015 Nenin is a blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 37 hl/ha between 17 September and 5 October over nine picking days. The alcohol arrives at 14.3%. Matured in 35% new oak, it sports a precise and elegant bouquet. This is a more nuanced Nenin compared to recent vintages whereby the Merlot is more expressive than the Cabernet Franc at present. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin. This is very well balanced, a more sophisticated Nenin than in recent years, due to Jean-Hubert Delon's decision to deselect some worthy parcels into the deuxième vin. There is an attractive sappiness towards the finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. I would just like to see that Cabernet Franc finding its voice by the time this 2015 is in bottle, but this Nenin has very good potential. One to watch.- NM

A blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Nenin is medium garnet in color. It leaps from the glass with open-knit scents of raspberry preserves, boysenberries, and juicy plums, plus suggestions of wood smoke, beef drippings, and black truffles. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers a lively backbone to the generous, savory-laced black fruits with a firm, chewy texture and a long earthy finish.

A third of the crop and probably the most precise wine yet from this Léoville-Las Cases-owned property. Constructed in the house style with fine-grained tannins and impressive length and freshness. Less opulence than previous years but very pure.

Notes of ripe plums, black cherries, freshly laid asphalt and scorched earth dominate the bouquet of the 2015 Château Nenin. Made from 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, it offers a beautifully ripe, medium to full-bodied personality, bright acidity, and sweet tannin, and is going to evolve gracefully for 15-20 years. I was blown away by this wine when I tasted it from barrel, and it certainly didn’t disappoint from bottle.

Lush and ripe, set apart in this vintage by good, juicy energy that allows the plum sauce, raspberry pâte de fruit and cherry compote flavors to be vibrant and engaging, backed by red licorice and singed vanilla details on the straight-backed finish. Cocoa, flowers, plum and cherry notes on the nose, with fresh kirsch and cherry griotte on the palate. The finish gives you even more cherries, crisp cassis and a basket of strawberries. This wine was produced from 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc and reached 14.3% alcohol with a pH of 3.72. The Grand Vin is 70% of the production. This is certainly a contender for the best vintage of Nenin ever produced. The 2015 Nénin has a dustiness on the nose. This is more tertiary than its peers, perhaps without some of the purity it showed in youth. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely balanced, with grainy tannins, graphite and tobacco infusing the finish that shows a little austerity. But it seems to gain more élan in the glass and it represents a commendable Pomerol to drink over the next decade. -- Neal Martin

Very dense, this wine holds a high amount (33%) of Cabernet Franc, which gives a beautiful perfumed character as well as restraining the exuberance of the Merlot. It is full of tannins that will allow the wine to age well. Drink from 2025. ROGER VOSS
