Presumably, the Lafon holdings in Charmes were also not badly affected by the frost of April, as this is a great bottle of Charmes in the making in 2016. The bouquet jumps from the glass in a very precise and stylish mix of apple, passion fruit, complex, chalky soil tones, almonds, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and zesty, with a fine core and lovely inner tension. The finish is very long, nicely reserved in profile and racy, with impressive mineral drive and plenty of complexity. Lovely juice.
