The attack is sweet and gentle but very concentrated, and it shows lift and elegance even though the fruit quality is still primary. It’s spicy and tight, with fine acidity and discreet tannins. Very youthful and more dark-fruited than the Drouhin version. Splendid length.

Initially quite reduced, the nose cleared somewhat with air to reveal dark scents of black raspberry, cherry and mocha. Then wonderfully supple and sweet on the palate if a bit dominated by smoky oak today; perhaps a bit thicker and riper than Faiveley's other Chambolle-Musigny premier crus but less expressive today. Finishes with distinctly dark, even purple, fruit flavors and good savory minerality. This needs a racking. - Stephen Tanzer
