Medium-full/bodied, with a nose that blasts you with its floral, red berry, espresso, blackberry and smoke filled nose. There is depth of flavor here, but the focus is clearly on the freshness and finesse over power and tannin. Powerful and rich, almost creamy in texture, with chewy tannins and deep, juicy black fruits. It's very good quality, although it's worth noting that we opened a second bottle as the first one had queries over its levels of reduction. Spicy notes stand out. Matured in 35% new oak.

Showing well in the vintage, the 2016 Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse offers a medium ruby color as well as medium-bodied notes of sweet cassis, saddle leather, and spice, with a subtle floral element developing with time in the glass. It’s pure, has fine tannins, and shows the more elegant, finesse-driven style of the vintage. It lags behind the top wines in the appellation yet has class and should keep for two decades or more.
