95+ The 2017 Rousseau Clos St. Jacques was also showing beautifully, with a touch more of a reserved profile in mid-November, but coupled to great purity and perfume on the nose as well. The bouquet delivers a fairly primary and very, very promising combination of red and black cherries, plums, gamebird, a nice touch of sweet hazelnut (like one might find in a young vintage of Rostaing Côte Blonde), raw cocoa, a very, very complex base of soil and a sound base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and absolutely seamless, with great purity on the attack, a great core of fruit in reserve, superb soil signature and a very, very long, vibrant and ripely tannic finish. Great juice.
