The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet La Boudriotte 1er Cru is less flattering on the nose compared to Domaine Jean-Claude Bachelet's, missing the latter’s tension and joie-de-vivre. A light oyster shell accent begins to emerge as it meliorates with aeration. There is plenty of substance here, along with good grip, weight and concentration, a slightly waxy texture and fine acidity, plus a judicious touch of spice on the finish. This just needs a couple of years in bottle. Great potential, but be patient. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
