The same blend and makeup as the 2018, the 2017 Syrah BMT is half Rodney's Vineyard Syrah and the balance equal parts Grenache and Syrah, both from Colons Canyon. It offers a Châteauneuf du Pape-like perfume of red and black fruits, herbes de Provence, dried violets, pepper, and incense. Full-bodied, powerful, super-rich, and textured, it has beautiful Grenache sweetness of fruit, ripe, polished tannins, and a monster personality, all while staying flawlessly balanced and light on its feet. It's a brilliant wine, the finest to date for the cuvée, and can be enjoyed any time over the coming 10-15 years.

The deep ruby colored 2017 Syrah BMT is only bottled in magnum and contains 25% Grenache. It offers aromas of blueberry, red cherry jam, baked blackberries and grilled beef with nuances of cocoa, roasted coffee bean, fried herbs and flowers. It's full-bodied and savory with firm, chewy tannins and juicy acidity, finishing long and nuanced. Give this a few more years in bottle.
