This is rounded and very pure with good impact and immediate interest. There’s plenty of juniper and thyme on the nose and palate over deep blackberry and loganberry fruit. This has depth, concentration and length and is very well-balanced with a driving vinosity. Should last well. A small, traditional family domaine of 4.5ha, across lieux-dits; Le Champin, Leyat, Les Moutonnes, Côte-Blonde, Fongeant and La Brosse. Grapes are destemmed, fermented with natural yeasts and aged for 15 months in barrel before bottling, 20% new.

(92-94+ points) Still aging in 20% new French oak, the inky hued 2018 Côte Rôtie has a big, masculine, mineral-laced nose that includes plenty of dark fruits, scorched earth, graphite, and ground pepper and meaty nuances. It's beautiful on the palate, with tons of violets and purple fruit, full-bodied richness, building underlying tannins, and a great finish. This impressive Côte Rôtie will shine for 10-15 years or more.

Brilliant ruby. Highly expressive, mineral- and spice-accented blackberry, cherry, potpourri and olive aromas take on a licorice nuance as the wine opens up. Juicy black and blue fruit, floral pastille, cola and spicecake flavors show very good depth and are firmed by a core of juicy acidity. Turns weightier on the persistent, sharply delineated finish, which repeats the dark berry and floral notes and leaves a hint of botanical herbs behind. -- Josh Raynolds
