On the palate, the wine is pure lavish velvet. Elegance and power are in balance with layers of decadently textured chocolate liqueur soaked plums that linger 'til dawn. In a decade this will be off the hook! Read more at:https://www.thewinecellarinsider.com/wine-tasting-note/?vintage=2018&wine=Chateau%20La%20Fleur-Petrus

(97-98) This is a tannic and structured red with loads of walnut, hazelnut, dark-berry and wet-earth character. Full-bodied yet tight and reserved. Muscular and beautifully formed.

It's another inky colored beauty that boasts full-bodied richness and depth as well as thrilling notes of crème de cassis, kirsch, dried flowers, incense, and spice. With subtle background oak, flawless balance, and ultra-fine tannins, this brilliant effort will be drinkable with just short-term cellaring and keep for two decades or more.

Creamy, ample and generous, the 2018 has it all. Silky tannins and bright floral notes give the 2018 an air of sophistication to play off the rich, textured fruit. As good as the 2018 is on first impression, it is also magically persistent, with an eternal finish and fabulous balance.- AG

Medium-bodied, the palate is charged with wonderfully energetic red and black fruits, framed by fine-grained tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing beautifully fragrant.- LPB

It takes its time in the glass, with the floral aromatics only beginning to curl out after five minutes before revealing an obvious supple and rich texture alongside fruit that packs a punch, so densely knitted together it feels as though you're walking across a bed of blackcurrants. The wine shows the ambitions of this property but things are not as effortless as in the brilliant 2016 from La Fleur Petrus - my guess is that the gravel soils suffered just a touch more than usual in the heat of the summer. 3.9pH. It is almost decadent, but it is very delineated and in no way seems over-powering. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and "solid" tannins, wonderful acidity and pure black, truffle infused fruit. Where it just falls a little short is towards the finish, which does not possess the complexity and sophistication of the 2018 Trotanoy tasted alongside. Maybe an unfair comparison, but it is still bloody good. -- Neal Martin
