The pick of Domaine de Montille's impressive range of white Premiers Crus in 2018, this is a stylish rendition of what many people consider Meursault's best terroir. Pear, apple and citrus fruit flavours are embellished by scented oak, racy acidity and stony intensity. Floral and crunchy, this shows the benefits of early harvesting in a warm year.

(93-95 points) Clear colour and distinguished nose with detail still to follow. Absolutely what Perrières should be on the palate, full at the front with something of a steely backbone and very great length. But no bouquet to speak of yet. Still, this will certainly work.

(91-94 points) Notes of smoky mineral reduction, lemon grass and acacia blossom precede highly energetic and more mineral-driven if less concentrated and powerful middle weight flavors that possess a highly refined and sophisticated texture. The tightly wound, youthfully austere and bone-dry finish is textbook Perrières and while it could use a bit more overall depth, the underlying material appears to be very promising.

(92-94 points) The 2018 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru It has an intense bouquet – like other Meursaults from de Montille, carrying a little reduction, but with more crushed stone, mineralité and white flower scents than the Les Porusots. The palate is well balanced with impressive depth, tension and vigor, offering citrus lemon and orange pith mixed with hazelnut toward the sustained finish. Excellent. -- Neal Martin

(91 - 93+ points) The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières unfurls in the glass with notes of citrus oil, white flowers, crisp Anjou pear and wet stones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and chiseled, with fine concentration and a long, precise finish. Along with the Caillerets, this is the most tensile of de Monteille's white premiers crus.- WK
