Brian Sieve has made some very impressive white wines at de Montille in 2018, typified by the quality of this focused, concentrated Premier Cru white. Grapefruit, fennel and patisserie flavours marry appealingly on the palate with 25% new wood, leesy weight and a fresh, tangy finish. Early picking was crucial to the style of the wine.

(91-93 points) The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Let Folatières 1er Cru spent 12 months in barrel (228- and 600-liter) and at the time of tasting was in stainless steel. It has a stoic, almost aloof bouquet that does not want to come out to play. The palate is well balanced with pretty apricot and ginger-tinged citrus fruit, gaining weight toward the finish, which maintains the spicy edge all the way through. Excellent. -- Neal Martin

(90 - 92 points ) The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières offers up a pretty bouquet of citrus oil, white flowers and crisp green orchard fruit, followed by a medium to full-bodied, charming and textural palate that's fine-boned, lively and mineral. This is quite a delicate, pretty Folatières that avoids excess.- WK

A pretty if somewhat pungent nose is slightly phenolic while displaying smoky notes of white peach and acacia. The succulent and round, even plush, flavors possess good mid-palate density while exuding a subtle minerality that adds a touch of lift to the lemony and agreeably dry finale.
