Blackcurrants, cassis, smoked tobacco, graphite, and charcoal notes all give way to a full-bodied, beautifully textured, concentrated, and voluptuous beauty that does everything right. It's a big, powerful wine offering ample structure and length. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade or more. Hats off to team Boüard for another thrilling lineup of wines.

(93-94 points) This is always an impressive selection of old vines that delivers depth and authenticity. Full and layered with fantastic fruit and polished tannins. Mushroom and bark undertones. Dense and energetic.

Rich, full-bodied and concentrated, with lush textures and velvety tannins, the wine demands 5-7 years in the cellar before it really begins to strut its stuff. This Pomerol look-alike is made from 100% old vine Merlot. Read more at:https://www.thewinecellarinsider.com/search-wine-tasting-notes/?szSearch=2018+La+Fleur+de+Bouard+

Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely packed with ripe, rich black fruits with loads of earth and herbal accents to brighten it up, framed by rounded tannins, finishing long and spicy.- LPB

It's one of the very few vintages where I prefer this to the grand vin: it's inky and deep in colour, and there's no question that the oak give walls and tannic structure. But everything is well integrated and balanced, and the charred notes give an extra kick that softens the austerity. As I often think, if they combined the two wines it really could be a brilliant ensemble, but it's definitely clear that this wine has an edge in 2018. Raspberry jam, dried flowers, mint, licorice and mocha build as this sumptuous red blossoms in the glass. Rich and expansive, with tremendous breadth as well as character, the 2018 is positively stellar. Le Plus hasn't always turned out as well as early tastings suggest, but the 2018 most certainly has. This is a fabulous showing for the flagship wine from the de Boüard family's Lalande de Pomerol property. -- Antonio Galloni
