TheWineCellarInsider.com, March 2022

Deep, dark, rich, full-bodied, concentrated and vivacious, the wine is packed with dark, black and red pit fruits, crushed stones, chocolate, licorice, flowers and forest leaf. The wine is powerful, refined, deep and...

Decanter, May 2020

Rich plum colour. This takes its time to open, is pretty subtle at first, but then explodes in juicy fruit. Clear salinity where you can feel the slate scrape of the limestone terroir, alongside well expressed aromatics...

jamessuckling.com, January 2022

Plums, currants, pine cones, mushrooms and bark on the nose. Some licorice, too. It’s medium-bodied with tightly knit tannins. Tight and fresh with fantastic tension and drive. Refined and focused. Spicy and lightly salty...

The Wine Independent, May 2023

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Beau-Sejour Becot saunters out with easy-going scents of juicy blackberries and plum preserves, followed by hints of cedar, potpourri, and fallen leaves. The medium to full-bodied...

Vinous, February 2023

The 2019 Beau-Séjour-Bécot just lacks a bit of energy on the nose, dusky black fruit, sous-bois and dry tobacco. Old school. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-hewn tannins, very well balanced, lovely purity with a...

Wine Spectator, January 2022

This delivers a tumble of ripe raspberry, plum and boysenberry fruit flavors, lined with violet, red tea and sweet tobacco notes that add lift and range. The long, racy, chalk-lined finish leaves a pure feel that's not...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2022

(94+ points) The 2019 Beau-Séjour Bécot has turned out nicely, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, wild berries, raw cocoa, spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's deep and layered...

The Beau-Sejour Becot vineyard is situated on the western plateau of Saint-Emilion, in the old parish of Saint-Martin de Mazerat. The estate covers 18.5 hectares of which 16.52 hectares are planted with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (24%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) on chalky soil with fossilized starfish. The average age of the vines is 40 years old and the fruit is harvested by hand.

This wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in 80-100% new barrels depending on the vintage. It then ages in the cellar for 16 to 18 months at constant temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. Annual production is approximately 60,000 bottles.

The 2019 Beau-Sejour-Becot is a Bordeaux Blend that hails from the renowned Saint Emilion region of Bordeaux, France. This red wine showcases a deep, rich plum color that immediately catches the eye and hints at the luscious flavors to come.

Upon first opening, the wine is subtle, but as it breathes, it explodes with juicy fruit aromas. The clear salinity and distinct slate scrape of the limestone terroir are immediately apparent, adding depth and complexity to the wine. Delicate touches of peony flowers grace the nose, further enhancing its elegant and succulent character.

The 2019 vintage of Beau-Sejour-Becot marks the second year with Jean de Cournuaud as the technical director, and it is clear that his expertise shines through. The vineyard yielded an impressive 46hl/ha, ensuring the utmost quality in every bottle. Aging took place in 65% new oak, comprising a mix of barrels and 20hl casks, resulting in a wine that is both refined and expressive. With a pH of 3.77, the wine strikes a perfect balance between acidity and richness.
