Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Vigna la Casa was first produced in 1977. At the time little was known of terroir, and little attention was paid to the concept of zoning, which had only recently been introduced to Montalcino. In this case Caparzo was once again a pace setter, producing a “single vineyard” Brunello from one of the finest vineyards in the appellation.

With Brunello di Montalcino La Casa, Caparzo was also one of the first wineries to introduce barriques to Montalcino, producing a wine with a polite, elegant spirit. Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa is the fruit of a unique terroir, and expresses all of Caparzo's passion and experience in producing excellent wines.

The 2019 Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino La Casa is a red wine crafted from Sangiovese Grosso grapes. Produced by Caparzo in the Brunello di Montalcino sub-region of Tuscany, Italy, this wine has garnered substantial acclaim from various professional reviewers.

Decanter describes this wine as "restrained and introspective in its youth," with "subtle mocha and crushed allspice" and "wild, red woodland berries." The palate is noted for its "generous core of pure luscious raspberries imbued with vanilla and liquorice," supported by "gravelly textured tannins" and an "appetising stony finish." Decanter awarded it a score of 94.

James Suckling gives an excellent review with a score of 97, praising its "blueberry, blackberry and chocolate aromas" and describing it as "subtle and perfumed." He notes its "full-bodied" nature with "chewy tannins and lots of structure," suggesting that it "needs time to come together" and recommending it be tried after 2027.

Jeb Dunnuck also scored the wine highly at 95, highlighting its "ripe and inviting" character with "intertwining notes of kirsch, fresh leather, dried roses, and sweet Mediterranean herbs." He commends its "elegant and full-bodied" nature, with "ripe tannins, a plush texture, and wonderful length."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate echoes this sentiment, giving it a score of 95 and describing it as "a balanced presentation of candied cherry, dried fruit and toasted spice." The review mentions "velvety soft tannins and good inner energy," adding that it is "carefully balanced throughout."

Wine Spectator provides a slightly lower but still commendable score of 92, noting its "subtle power" and "ample cherry, plum and mineral flavors." The wine is described as "pretty fluid and open, with a light dusting of tannins on the lingering finish."

Vinous appreciates its "youthfully moody and dark" nature, with "violet florals, crushed wild berries and sweet spice," giving it a score of 95. The review mentions "juicy textural waves of mineral-drenched red fruits" and a "long, structured and classically dry" finish.

Kerin O'Keefe also rates the wine at 95, highlighting aromas of "raspberry compote, graphite, hay and botanical herb." The palate features "pomegranate, cherry tart, licorice and mocha framed in taut, close-grained tannins," and is well-balanced with "fresh acidity."

Overall, the 2019 Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino La Casa stands out as a well-structured, aromatic wine with considerable depth and complexity, earning high praise and excellent reviews from multiple sources.
