Amazing aromas of crushed stones and wet soil with fresh mushrooms, then going on to violets and other flowers. Dark fruit, too. Full-bodied, yet agile and fine, with a linear flow of tannins that run through the center...

A wine that you sink into, drink in the aromatics before taking a sip. You can sense the velvety texture from the first moment. There is so much density here, and yet each tannin plays its part with skill, holding the...

Another utterly heavenly wine from this estate is the 2019 Château Margaux, a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot coming from a selection of just 37% of the total production...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2022

Is the 2019 Château Margaux the wine of the vintage? A strong case in its favor could certainly be made. Soaring from the glass with aromas of blackberries, raspberries, rose petals, violets, pencil shavings and vine...

A stunning, monumental Margaux, this has all the power, concentration and class expected of a First Growth. Cool on the palate with an emerging floral bouquet after a few minutes swirling in the glass, Asian spices also...

The structure of the wine is magnificent. With its dense concentration and ripeness, the wine is still just starting out. The wine's texture is rich, firm while also smooth. Drink from 2027. ROGER VOSS

Vinous, February 2023

(97+ points) The 2019 Château Margaux is slightly more low-key than its peers, but very precise. Crushed rocks infuse the black fruit, quite transparent and very terroir driven. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red...

Since the 17th Century, the grand vin of Chateau Margaux has been recognized as one of the greatest wines in the entire world. It owes its unique qualities to the genius of its terroir as well as to the passionate work of a succession of generations. It’s a remarkable wine that comes from a combination of characteristics that are only rarely found: finesse, elegance, complexity, density, intensity, length and freshness. Although its tannic concentration may be exceptional, it’s rare to detect astringency.

The great vintages are distinguished by their formidable ability to move us, while the lesser vintages give pleasure to wine enthusiasts. Chateau Margaux has an extraordinary ability to evolve with age, developing finesse, aromatic aromatic complexity, and a remarkable presence on the palate.

The 2019 Chateau Margaux [Bordeaux Blend] is a red wine hailing from the Bordeaux region of France, specifically the Margaux sub-region. This vintage is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine is bottled with a cork closure and has an alcohol content of 13.5%.

James Suckling awarded this wine a perfect score of 100, praising it for its "amazing aromas of crushed stones and wet soil with fresh mushrooms," and its "linear flow of tannins that run through the center of palate." He describes the tannins as "exceptional, like raw silk and changing all the time," and labels the wine as "cool and energetic, yet reserved" and "Zen-like."

Jeb Dunnuck also gave it a perfect score, calling it "utterly heavenly" and noting its "incredible array of ripe currants, blueberries, sweet tobacco, sandalwood, and toasted spices." He describes the wine as having a "seamless, powerful, yet incredibly sexy mouthfeel" with "polished tannins" and a "great, great finish." Dunnuck suggests that the wine "already offers incredible pleasure yet deserves 4-6 years of bottle age."

Neal Martin of Vinous awarded the wine a 99, describing it as "absolutely divine on the nose" with "exquisitely defined black fruit infused with graphite, Japanese nori, and just a hint of potpourri and crushed stone." He highlights the wine's "pliable, filigreed tannins" and a "slightly more sensual finish" that is "quintessentially Margaux."

William Kelley of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate also gave a perfect score, noting the wine's "soaring aromas of blackberries, raspberries, rose petals, violets, pencil shavings, and vine smoke." Kelley praises its "strikingly vibrant core of fruit" and "almost interminable duration" of its finish.

Roger Voss from Wine Enthusiast gave it a 98, emphasizing its "magnificent structure" and "dense concentration and ripeness." He describes the texture as "rich, firm while also smooth."

Jeff Leve from The Wine Cellar Insider also awarded a 100, calling it "the most sensual vintage of Chateau Margaux ever produced" and noting its "pure silk and velvet" palate.

Decanter's review, scoring it at 98, highlights the wine's "wonderful aromas" and "captivating texture." The review describes the wine as "sculpted, elegant, and nicely framed."

Wine Spectator gave it a 95, noting its "cashmere feel right from the get-go" and a finish "laced with alluring red and black tea, violet, incense, and savory notes."

Finally, Jane Anson and The Wine Independent both provided perfect scores, praising its "velvety texture" and "classic scents of cassis, plum preserves, pencil shavings, and wild sage."

Overall, the 2019 Chateau Margaux is a highly acclaimed wine with exceptional balance, finesse, and potential for aging.
