The 2019 Lagar de Baixo is a Baga aged for 22 months in used 2,500-liter fuders. Sourced from old vines ranging between 40 and 60 years of age, this comes in at 12% alcohol. This is one of my favorites in the group, but admittedly it won't necessarily be everyone's style. I liked the combination of fine freshness, mid-palate finesse and elegance at a very good price. It should age well. It is certainly an understated red that relies on acidity, so don't expect anything fleshy, fruity or very ripe. It sure has character and precision, though, and some ability to age. - MS
