(90-92 points) Revealing aromas of cherries, sweet berries, warm spices and raw cocoa, the 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Les Theurons (Domaine Gagey) is medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with a rich core of fruit underpinned by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the youthfully chewy finish.

Boasts black cherry and black currant fruit accented by earth and a touch of chocolate. Offers beefy tannins that lurk in the background, while the dense structure clamps down on the finish. Best from 2026 through 2043. - B.S.
