Barthelmé's 2022 Pinot Noir Grand P comes from 12- to 25-year-old vines that are planted at a density of up to 8,800 plants per hectare, with yields of 27 to 30 hectoliters per hectare and deliver small clusters and berries. It is deep, pure, intense and very elegant on the bright, refined, fruity and finely intense nose. Coming from a one-meter-deep layer of clay topping the limestone mother rock and fermented with 25% to 30% whole bunches for 10 days, this is a generous, very elegant, pure and charming Pinot Noir with remarkable finesse. The Grand P might be less structured or tight compared to the muscular and powerful Grand Cru Hengst, but it shows its Burgundian soul immediately and gives a stimulatingly saline, terroir-driven freshness. The tannins are very fine and perfectly intermingled with the calcareous freshness of the Pfersigberg. This is an excellent vintage for the Pfersigberg that always takes a little more time to develop. The 2022, however, already tasted beautiful last spring. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork.- SR
